About The Retreat

The Retreat is a quality, detached house, set in the village of Lamphey, just over 1.5 miles away from the beautiful sandy beach at Freshwater East.

Deceptively spacious, it has been furnished to a high standard throughout in a contemporary style and bright bold tones. The large, dual aspect lounge with comfy sofas and a wood burning stove for those chillier evenings has French doors opening to a paved terrace, an ideal spot to enjoy a barbecue on a summer’s day and the rear enclosed lawn gives plenty of space for children to play.

The spacious modern kitchen/diner is perfect for leisurely family meals and also opens to the garden. The master bedroom on the ground floor provides a spot of luxury while the stairs lead to 2 further spacious bedrooms in the eaves. Conveniently situated, there is a choice of pubs and restaurants as well as an excellent bakery and village shop all within walking distance in this thriving village, while a short drive takes you to the popular sandy beach at Freshwater East.

There are a wealth of other beautiful sandy beaches to explore all nearby including Barafundle and Broadhaven South, a walk round the Lily Ponds from Bosherston to reach it should not be missed as well as refreshments at the Olde Worlde Tea Rooms. Join the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path and explore over the headland to Stackpole with its recommended pub, The Stackpole Inn, where you can a enjoy a meal. There are a range of facilities in the historic town of Pembroke and a visit to the medieval Castle and a walk round the mill pond will be a highlight while to the east are a number of popular seaside villages all with glorious sandy beaches including Manorbier, Lydstep and Tenby.

A truly delightful holiday home whatever the season.

A very happy weeks family holiday, despite some showers which fell mainly at night, there has been super sunshine too, We will remember the spacious kitchen with constant hot water and the welcoming bathroom. Bus route and bakery, papers, petrol and pub, this house is as favoured outside as it is inside. Last but not least it is easy to lift bags and cases from the doorstep to the car. Going home is like leaving friends.

A great week at The Retreat! The house has everything (and more) to provide a first class holiday. We have been blessed with beautiful weather and therefore The Retreat has been a superb hub to explore Tenby, Pembroke, Carew Castle and more! Had farewell dinner at Lamphey Hall, great food at a reasonable price. Sunday lunch at The Waterman's , Pembroke - sitting outside in view of the Castle and the Mill Pond was lovely. Our lasting memory will be the friendliness of all we came in contact with. You made our holiday extra special with the high quality beds, linen and towels! We will return one day!

Thank you for sharing your lovely home with us. It was wonderful to walk into such a spotlessly clean house. The kitchen was so well equipped with all the utensils, pots and pans we could possibly need, it was a real home from home. We didn't really come prepared for such lovely weather, so it was brilliant to find chairs, umbrella and windbreak in the garage ready for our use. The Retreat was the nicest holiday home we've stayed in. We will certainly recommend to friends.

The Jones Family

We have had such a wonderful time here at The Retreat, the few days here have really been relaxing, especially as we have been based at a beautiful, well decorated house. You have made it extra special as you have thought of practically everything! We would never get the personal touch elsewhere - the binoculars, the slippers, books, games, well equipped kitchen and utility - where else would we have a tagine as part of the cooking utensils. We have had a great time and would like to visit again. Thank you.
